Families looking to celebrate Father’s Day with a memorable day out can take advantage of a special offer from Wightlink, with dads travelling free as foot passengers on Sunday 21 June.
The offer allows dads to travel free on a day return crossing when accompanied by at least one paying passenger, making it easy for families to enjoy a day trip between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.
No advance booking is required, with customers simply able to turn up and purchase tickets at a Customer Service Point at the port on the day.
The offer is available on Wightlink’s foot passenger services between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head, and between Lymington and Yarmouth, with travel valid in both directions.
David Williams, Wightlink’s Head of Marketing, said: “Father’s Day is about spending quality time together and creating memories. With fantastic destinations on both sides of the Solent, we’re delighted to help families enjoy a special day out by giving dads the chance to travel free.”
Whether families are heading to the mainland or visiting the Isle of Wight, there are plenty of ways to make a day of it.
Father’s Day inspiration on the Isle of Wight
Families travelling to the Isle of Wight can enjoy a car-free Father’s Day adventure, with regular Southern Vectis bus services linking both Ryde Pier Head and Yarmouth to attractions, beaches and towns across the Island.
Visitors arriving in Ryde can enjoy the seafront, independent shops, cafés and nearby attractions such as the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum and the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, while those arriving in Yarmouth are ideally placed to explore the west coast, including attractions like Dimbola Museum and Galleries and Farringford Gardens in Freshwater Bay and the famous Needles and Alum Bay.
From waterfront pubs and seafood restaurants to farm shops and independent cafés, there are plenty of opportunities to support local businesses while enjoying quality time together. With spectacular coastal walks, picturesque villages and excellent public transport links, the Isle of Wight offers the perfect setting for a memorable Father’s Day.
To claim the offer, one dad travelling as a foot passenger on a day return ticket will travel free when accompanied by at least one paying passenger. Tickets can be purchased on the day at Wightlink Customer Service Points.
The Father’s Day offer is valid on Sunday 21 June 2026 only and applies to foot passenger travel on the Portsmouth Harbour–Ryde Pier Head and Lymington–Yarmouth routes.
